Liz Truss, launched the first edition of her video series with a promise to expose "the evil-doers" working to weaken Western democracies. She explained she would uncover how an "global web of leftists work to undermine popular rule and the electorate's mandate."

"Our focus will be on the Maga phenomenon and observe how it can be achieved in Britain," Truss declared. "We'll be talking to the leading lights of the Make America Great Again campaign."

Before the series premiere, there was one particularly enthusiastic supporter. "This marks the start of a kind of transformation," said the controversial US journalist. The right-leaning Just the News will host the former prime minister's new podcasts.

Establishing Ties in the Maga-Verse

UK-based allies, such as a counselor supportive of Reform, played a role in her establish the Truss's program. Its staging is adequate, if basic. Truss has amassed a subscriber base of 10k in her first week and her first episode had tens of thousands of views in that timeframe.

It is a modest start, but in partnering with John Solomon, she is being thrust into a mature right-wing media network generating and disseminating Maga talking points. Central preoccupations include accusations of information control by the established press and a desire to eradicate a so-called administrative state – which Truss blames for the swift end of her disastrous time in office.

"Solomon's outlet is not widely recognized outside of the Maga world, but it does have gravitas there, largely because of its founder, who offers opinions on conservative outlets like Steve Bannon's War Room and has even spoken with Trump," noted an anthropology expert, who has extensively researched the Maga movement.

A Divisive Associate

Her effort to transplant the pro-Trump media model to Britain has pushed her closer to divisive personalities such as Solomon.

He founded Just the News in the wake of scrutiny following accusations of pushing misleading narratives about the President's actions in the Ukraine, as well as controversial stories about one-time diplomat to the region.

These allegations were repeated throughout the conservative press, with Solomon appearing as a regular guest on Sean Hannity's influential Fox News show. Trump himself boosted the journalist's work.

The journalist published the allegations regarding Ukraine in a set of articles for the political newspaper the Hill, where he was re-designated as an opinion writer following internal criticism about his work. These reports were key in the then-president's request for the officials in Kyiv to probe Hunter Biden and his father in that year. This pressure culminated in impeachment charges against the president. The US Senate later voted to acquit the then-president.

Not long after Solomon left the newspaper in late 2019, the news organization stated it was performing a examination of his columns relating to Ukraine. It concluded the journalist had relied on unreliable sources and noted he "omitted important details about key Ukrainian sources, specifically the reality that they had been charged or were under investigation."

Becoming Part of the Sphere

The journalist's personal broadcast spots are a sign of the conservative ecosystem the former prime minister is becoming part of. He talked about his endorsement of Truss's project on a broadcast he helps run on Real America's Voice, a conservative television outlet that is home to the conservative firebrand ex-Trump strategist Bannon and on which former Fox host Tucker Carlson also features. The ex-PM has already hosted Steve Bannon on one of her first podcasts.

In linking up with Solomon and Just the News, the former leader has become a minor player in a much wider network of right-wing publications that frequently amplify each other's content.

The journalist's podcast and Real America's Voice show have frequently included individuals such as commentator Mike Benz, a rightwing influencer whose arguments against the US Agency for International Development was used by the X owner as grounds for shutting down the foreign aid agency.

An International Strategy

Although the former PM's unnatural presentation and career difficulties have invited ridicule in Britain, certain American analysts are taking seriously her efforts to revamp her image as a British branch of the Make America Great Again press.

"You have to take folks like that with seriousness, despite the fact that you may not want to interpret them word-for-word," commented a Democratic strategist, who was employed in the Biden administration.

"You saw how in the recent campaign Donald Trump utilized that ecosystem to disseminate his views. Certainly that sphere spreads and shapes discourse abroad. It appears quite apparent to me that the circumstances in the United Kingdom are akin to what allowed this non-mainstream media network to flourish in America."

Professor Alan Finlayson, said the online conservative ecosystem was already exerting influence in Britain.

"The internet knows no borders," Finlayson remarked. "There is a certain milieu within which ideas travel – sometimes taking an extreme form and other times more moderately – but which is interlinked."

Hinton said the growth of the digital conservative movement in the UK recently meant the "chance to have a larger effect is considerable."
